Renewing your Employer Accreditation with INZ is vital for maintaining your ability to hire and support migrant workers. However, there are certain requirements that must be fulfilled during the accreditation period, and evidence of these must be provided at the time of renewal. Many employers, especially those new to the process, can easily overlook these, leading to delays or even rejection of their renewal application.
Proof of Completion of Employment New Zealand Training Modules
For Businesses with 5 or Fewer Recruitment Decision-Makers: You must provide certificates of completion for all individuals involved in recruitment decisions for AEWV applicants or workers.
For Businesses with More than 5 Recruitment Decision-Makers: You need to provide certificates for at least 5 individuals involved in recruitment decisions.
If you declared that recruitment staff did not complete Employment New Zealand training modules during the previous application period, you must provide supporting evidence with your renewal application. Evidence may include:
- A clear explanation of why the training modules were not completed. For example, if no migrant workers were recruited during the registration period, state this circumstance.
- Policies implemented to ensure training modules will be completed in the future and to prevent this issue from recurring.
- Documentation showing steps taken to ensure the training modules have been or will be completed.
Note: INZ may request additional information or evidence during the review of your application or in post-licence audits, so be prepared to provide further details if needed.
Evidence of Settlement Support
You need to provide evidence that you have assisted your migrant workers in settling into New Zealand. This evidence may include:
- Copies of any documents or information provided to your employees to help them settle (e.g., emails, completed settlement courses).
- Copies of your training or orientation policy.
- Evidence showing you allocated time for employees to complete Employment New Zealand modules (e.g., references to time allocated for training in settlement information).
If you declared that you did not provide settlement information to all AEWV holders employed since your previous application within one month of their start date, you will need to provide supporting evidence with your renewal application. This evidence may include:
- An explanation of why settlement support was not provided (e.g., no migrant workers were hired during the accreditation period).
- Copies of policies implemented to ensure this does not happen again.
- Documentation showing steps taken to ensure this information will be provided in the future.
- Recruitment policies showing that time will be allocated for completing Employment New Zealand training modules within one month of AEWV holders starting work.
Suggestions To Avoid Common Mistakes
Start Early: Begin preparing your evidence well before the renewal deadline to avoid last-minute issues. Early preparation ensures all necessary documents are accurate and complete.
Understand the Requirements: Familiarize yourself with all application requirements, especially if this is your first time. This includes understanding the requirements for completing modules and providing settlement support.
Consult Experts: If you’re unsure about any aspect of the process, seek advice from immigration experts or consultants.
